In the rapidly evolving field of dentistry, staying competent and proving your worth is a challenge.
MiCD provides you with just the recognition of your dental skills and
capacities that you need to thrive in this domain.
The Academy has adopted a self and mentor-guided learning approach along with the MiCD credit point system for accreditation. The accreditation system employs two approaches of earning credit points: the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) approach, and the Knowledge Philanthropy Credit (KPC) approach. CPD, a conventional pathway, mainly focuses on enhancing the professional competency (knowledge, skills and attitudes) of candidates.
MiCD Fellow
MiCD Fellowship is awarded to MiCDians based on the MiCD CPD points earned as per the requirement of each MiCD Care domain (LIFEstyle Dentistry, Functional Health Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, and MiCD Practice Management). Members have the choice to select one of two pathways to become an MiCD Fellow:
Self-Learning Pathway: Members can upgrade their knowledge through the MiCD Learning Station to earn prescribed MiCD CPD points for theory requirements. Additionally, they need to submit a set number of clinical cases online to the Academy’s Accreditation Committee to earn CPD points for clinical skill requirements.
Guided-Learning Pathway: Members can join their desired MiCD Mini Residency or MiCD Clinical Residency Program organized by the MiCD Global Academy International Training & Innovation Center in Nepal or through any of the MiCD Global Academy affiliated training institutes / dental colleges / professional societies. The participants should earn prescribed MiCD theory and clinical skill CPD points as per the requirements of the MiCD Care domain.
KPC, however, is an entirely new approach to professional development and is based on the “Knowledge Philanthropy” approach conceived by Dr. Sushil Koirala, that aims to enhance compassion and happiness in professional life. In this system, a professional needs to earn credit points through knowledge philanthropy activities such as delivering free lectures, conducting hands-on training, mentoring trainees, and writing clinical articles, book chapters, and eBooks to help expand the MiCD Global Movement with a non-commercial motive.
MiCD Diplomat
MiCD Diplomat is based on the concept of Knowledge Philanthropy and is the highest professional recognition given by the MiCD Global Academy. Global clinicians and academicians having a passion for sharing their professional knowledge, experiences and skills with the wider dental community through the MiCD Global Academy will be recognized as an “MiCD Diplomat: a knowledge philanthropist” once they contribute a minimum of 100 CE Hours of teaching and learning materials to the MiCD Learning Station of the Academy.
The CPD / KPC items and their related credit points are detailed in the table below.
